Our 2024–26 strategy has come to an end, and we're proud of what we've achieved together.

As we look ahead, we're building on that progress, responding to the evolving needs of our members and the wider haematology community, and setting a clear direction for the future. Our new strategy outlines how we'll continue to support, strengthen and champion haematology over the next five years.

Success of the Last Strategy

Our 2024-26 strategy delivered meaningful impact across the haematology community. We strengthened connections between professionals through our Special Interest Groups, mentoring platform and educational networks, including delivering 38 multidisciplinary educational sessions with colleagues in Zambia and supporting national trainee teaching programmes. We invested in the development of the workforce through new educational initiatives such as the Ä¢¹½´«Ã½ for Nurses course, grants and awards, and a growing programme of learning opportunities that support professionals at every stage of their careers.

We also strengthened the collective voice of haematology by contributing to national workforce and policy discussions, responding to consultations, collaborating with organisations including Blood Cancer UK, and advocating for the needs of the haematology workforce across the UK. Alongside this, we helped generate and share evidence to support service improvement, publishing influential workforce research on liaison haematology, showcasing examples of innovative practice from across the NHS, and continuing to develop guidelines and professional standards that support high-quality care. These achievements reflect the dedication of our members, volunteers, partners and staff, and provide a strong foundation for the ambitions set out in our new strategy.

Launching our Strategy

On 15 October 2026, BSH's President and CEO were delighted to welcome our Committee and Special Interest Group chairs, members, partners and stakeholders to celebrate the launch of our new strategy. The event provided an opportunity to share our vision and ambitions for the years ahead, while bringing together colleagues from across the haematology community. It was a wonderful evening, filled with insightful discussion, reflection on our achievements to date, and enthusiasm for the opportunities that lie ahead as we work together to deliver our new strategy.

Get Involved

Our strategy will be shaped and strengthened by the contributions of our community. Whether you're looking to share your expertise, influence the future of haematology, or connect with peers, there are many ways to get involved:

  • Become a volunteer and support the delivery of our work.
  • Join a Committee or Special Interest Group (SIG) to help shape priorities and advance specialist areas of practice.
  • Attend our events to learn, network and collaborate with colleagues across the profession.
  • Contribute to policy and advocacy work by helping inform consultations and championing the voice of haematology.
  • Share and implement best practice, email [email protected] for more information.
  • Through sharing case studies, or supporting and implementing guidelines and professional standards

Together, we can connect our community, champion careers and catalyse change for the future of haematology.
